The Western powers and their allies in the Middle East seek to spark sectarian violence across the Middle East over their concerns over the emergence of Islamic Awakening in the region, a political analyst tellsPress TV.This democratic wave (Islamic Awakening) in the Middle East is threatening to liberate the region from this sort of a century of all the Western colonial domination and that is the real issue that underlies all of these sort of surface sectarian battles, said Kevin Barrett, a co-founder of the Muslim-Christian-Jewish Alliance, in a Saturday interview.
He described the tide of Islamic Awakening as the axis of resistance, which is set to liberate the Mideast from dictatorship and noted that the Wests regional allies, including Israel as well as Al Saud and Al Khalifa dynasties have teamed up to whip up sectarian tensions among Shias and Sunnis in an attempt to hold back the new democratic movement.
Barrett lashed out at the US, Britain and Saudi Arabia for their key support for the Al Khalifa regime in repressing the anti-government movement in Bahrain and said these countries are concerned about losing their interests in the small Persian Gulf country.
The Bahraini uprising against the Al Khalifa regime began in early 2011. Scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested in the regime crackdown ever since. In addition, the human rights record of the Bahraini regime has come under scrutiny over its handling of the protests. Amnesty International has condemned the imprisonment of the activists in Bahrain, describing the move as appalling.
