Israels anti-Iran words based on lies: Professor

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus anti-Iran rhetoric at the United Nations was based on false premises, a university professor tells Press TV.
James Fetzer said on Wednesday that Tel Aviv was turning a blind eye to the 2007 conclusion by 16 US intelligence agencies that the Islamic Republic has not been pursuing military nuclear ambitions.

He said the conclusion, reaffirmed in 2011, means that the imposition of sanctions upon Iran for the development of a nuclear weapons program by the United States contradicts the findings of its own agencies.
Iran has signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty; Iran has allowed inspectors; Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. All of that is very evident in the record, said Fetzer.
He noted that Israel is in possession of 200-600 nuclear warheads which have remained hidden from inspectors.
It (Israel) possesses these weapons of mass destruction, which it has never disclosed in violation of nuclear, biological and chemical conventions, Fetzer said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, threatened unilateral military action against Iran to dismantle Irans civilian nuclear facilities.

He repeated his baseless accusation that Tehran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons, saying, Iran wants to be in a position to rush forward to build nuclear bombs before the international community can detect it and much less prevent it.

The US, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Tehran has categorically rejected the allegation, arguing that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
