The US adopts antagonistic policies towards sovereign governments as it merely favors interaction with submissive ruling systems across the world, a political analyst tellsPress TV.In a Tuesday interview, Randy Short alluded to the recent CIA declassification of a document that confirms Washingtons role in the 1953 coup against the democratically-elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, saying, They (the US) do not want an independent self-determining government that doesn't want to be a colony.
They (the US) have animosity towards governments that do not want to be essentially slaves to their sociopolitical economic interests, he added.
The analyst pointed out that Washington has continued its plots against Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, including its support for anti-Iran terrorists groups and engineering the 1980-1988 Iraqi invasion of Iran.
The CIA document, published on Monday on the National Security Archive website, was initially released in 1981, but most of it was blacked out at the time, including an entire section on the coup.
On August 15, 1953, the British and US intelligence agencies initiated a coup by the Iranian military, setting off a chain of events including riots in the streets of Irans capital, Tehran, that led to the overthrow and arrest of Mosaddeq four days later.
Mosaddeq, convicted of treason, served three years in prison and died under house arrest in 1967.
