Iran's strikes on Daesh in Syria a 'warning to Israel, US and Saudi Arabia'

Sputnik - Commenting on the recent Iranian strikes on Daesh in the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor, Iranian diplomat Hossein Sheikholeslam and military journalist Hassan Shemshadi told Sputnik Persian that it is not only a direct message to terrorists but, primarily, to their sponsors and donors, namely Israel, the US and the ruling clan in Saudi Arabia.

On Sunday, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired six mid-range ballistic missiles, home-made Zolfaqar high-precision missiles, onDaesh targets inSyria's Deir ez-Zor, eliminating a significant number ofterrorists, their HQs, ammunition and logistic depots amongothers.

According tothe IRGC statement, it was a "warning toterrorists" followingTehran terrorist attacks onJune 7.

"In case if attacks onIran continue, the flame ofour justifiable anger will burn terrorists toashes," the statement said.

On June 7, a group ofarmed men attacked the Iranian Parliament and Imam Khomeini shrine inTehran. Four gunmen attacked the building ofthe Iranian parliament, two ofthem were captured and one ofthe attackers blew himself upinside the building.

Several attackers raided the shrine ofthe late founder ofthe Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, south ofthe capital Tehran. The attackers started a shooting atthe visitors ofthe shrine. One ofthe attackers detonated himself infront ofa police station oppositethe shrine.

Daesh terrorist group has claimed responsibility forthe terrorist attacks.

The IRGC said the strikes have been coordinated withDamascus and were fired fromthe IRGC aerospace forces bases inIrans western provinces ofKermanshah and Kurdistan.

It was the first operational use ofIran's ballistic missiles sincethe Iran-Iraq war ofthe 1980s.

Hossein Sheikholeslam, adviser tothe Iranian Foreign Ministry, a former ambassador toSyria, voiced to Sputnik Persian an official position ofIran withregards tothe conducted operation, adding that incase ofneed, similar operation will be repeated uponcertain agreement and incoordination withthe coalition ofSyria, Iraq, Lebanon and Russia.
"The recent missile operation was a vivid punishment ofterrorists who impinged upontwo symbols ofthe Islamic Republic: its democracy the legislative power, the Iranian parliament, and the symbol ofthe Islamic Revolution the Mausoleum ofAyatollah Khomeini, the Spiritual Leader ofthe 1979 Islamic Revolution," the diplomat told Sputnik.

"During the scrupulous investigation ofTehran's recent terrorist attacks it was established that the command center ofthe eliminated terrorist leaders was located inSyria's Deir ez-Zor province. The decision was made topunish the terrorists. I reiterate that if there is any need, similar operations will be repeated, undercertain agreement [of the coalition]," he added.

Hossein Sheikholeslam said that the operation was a direct message not only toterrorists but, primarily, totheir sponsors and donors, namely Israel, the US and the ruling clan inSaudi Arabia.
"It is crystal clear that it is a message not only toterrorists butto their sponsors Israel, the US and the ruling monarch dynasty ofSaudi Arabia who, byhands ofterrorists, have committed mass killings inthe region. Iran has the full will todisplay its military might and deliver pinpoint blows toany location ofterrorists. It is a message toall those who have committed and is still committing violence inthe region," Hossein Sheikholeslam said.

Hassan Shemshadi, an Iranian Radio and Television correspondent inSyria and Iraq, who has been gunning forby Daesh militants since2012, revealed toSputnik certain details ofSunday operation.

"IRGC' missile strike onDaesh positions inthe Syrian Deir ez-Zor brings a certain message tothe terrorists aftertheir attacks onthe Iranian parliament and Imam Khomeini shrine inTehran. Right afterthe attacks, IRGC officially declared that Iran will deliver a crippling blow tothe terrorists forthe innocent blood they spilled," the journalist said.
He further recalled that just hours beforethe strike fromthe Kermanshah range, the Commander-in-Chief ofthe Islamic Republic ofIran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Iran is not the one toswallow the slap ofthe terrorists, butthe one toslap inreturn even stronger.

Right afterhis appeal, IRGC launched the operation: six mid-range ballistic missiles, home-made Zolfaqar high-precision missiles, were fired atDaesh targets inSyria's Deir ez-Zor.

It was a message toterrorists tobe aware, even ata distance ofhundreds ofkilometers fromIran, ofTehran's eagerness tosmash them, the journalist said.

Hassan Shemshadi also reiterated that it was a message totheir sponsors that Iran won't yield interms ofits national security.
The journalist said that it was not a spontaneous and uncoordinated attack. Through its intelligence, Tehran has received exact information onthe whereabouts ofthe terrorist leaders, who were behindthe Tehran's attacks, their command center, ammunition and logistic depots. It is an indication ofthe highest level ofwork ofthe country's intelligence, the cohesiveness oftheir activities and the warning toterrorists that wherever they are located, they will still get caught bythe Iranian intelligence.

Deir ez-Zor, he said, has become a shelter forall the terrorists who were defeated elsewhere and they have concentrated inthis particular province withtheir armaments and equipment.
Shemshadi said it was also a message tothose who are striving fora confrontation withIran and are urging forit. He reminded ofa recent voyage ofDonald Trump toSaudi Arabia and the multi-billion deals onthe supplies ofthe US' armaments they reached. Saudi Arabia then openly announced that it would advance towardsIran's borders to "punish" Iran forwhat it has allegedly done inthe region. Hence it was a message tothose foreign "friends" ofthe terrorists that they should not joke withIran.

The recent strike was just a light slap inthe face ofthe terrorists, he said. In case they don't stop their destructive activities, Iran will slap harder, no matter where insidethe country or outsideits borders.

Finally, Shemshadi pointed outthat the strike, conducted fromthe Iranian range, was fully coordinated withthe governments ofSyria and Iraq, their intelligence and special forces.
"If the governments ofthese countries turn tous forhelp inelimination ofDaesh, we will react immediately. Iran is not the US, whose so-called international coalition delivers demonstrative disorderly strikes onalleged Daesh positions," he finally stated.
