The American dream is disintegrating under Trump

American Herald Tribune|Tim King: It is all starting to break down now. Moral fibers that once wove the American spirit together are unraveling and disintegrating. Our team lost the baseball game, the Chevrolet won't start, and the apples in the pie are rancid. Any semblance of the American Dream is slipping into a nightmare of epic proportions, robbing our youth and future generations of the promise and hope they deserve. Of course that dream actually existed once, and for many it still does in a theoretical way, but the boundaries of acceptance in the United States have never been so far off track. Conversely, rather than moral boundaries, Americans now have a president who wants to wall his citizens inside of their own national border.

As the gloom settles over a frustrated American public, the violence between those who oppose and support Donald Trump is increasing, and video clips of bloody faces, tear gassed eyes, the whole enchilada splash across social media sites. Recent clashes between anti-Trump and pro-Trump protesters turned radically violent last week in Berkeley, a California university town known for its left wing roots.

Antagonists from both sides contributed to the thuggish violence and other problems at the Berkeley pro-Trump protest. In a clear demonstration of what future days will bring, Anarchists descended into the crowds, instigating more violence which the two sides both decry. I have written about this in the past, and it becomes more clear by the day that the direction the US is moving in is very dangerous.

Supporters of Trump have many common attributes. Almost all of them are White. As a whole, they are against immigration, and particularly oppose those who entered the US illegally. Trump supporters consider themselves patriotic, and sport flags at their rallies, which of course angers those who fail to support and strongly resent Trumps extreme right wing, money oriented politics in America. People on both sides of Trump are increasingly losing patience with each other and they are walking a potentially explosive path. What comes next? Gang warfare? Drive by shootings?

So why are so many Americans shaking with anger over Trumps politics and supporters? Some might equate this new US President's goals with a wrecking ball that isnt smashing an old building, but taking out structures in the neighborhood you live in.

The following house resolutions and house joint resolutions were introduced by President Trump in recent days while the media focused on connections between the Trump Administration and Russia and how that relationship may have impacted the 2016 US Election.

1. HR 861 Terminate the Environmental Protection Agency
2. HR 610 Vouchers for Public Education
3. HR 899 Terminate the Department of Education
4. HJR 69 Repeal Rule Protecting Wildlife
5. HR 370 Repeal Affordable Care Act
6. HR 354 Defund Planned Parenthood
7. HR 785 National Right to Work (this one ends unions)
8. HR 83 Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Bill
9. HR 147 Criminalizing Abortion (Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act)
10. HR 808 Sanctions against Iran

From all appearances, Trump is trying to gut the American infrastructure. His history involves supporting businesses that are tremendously damaging to the earth, such as the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) project in North Dakota which was halted in December by the former Secretary of the Army. Shortly after taking office, Trump used executive actions to advance both DAPL and the equally contested Keystone XL pipeline. Calling the oil pipelines black snakes, opponents say they are a major threat to their water supplies and land, and yet their substantiated claims of potentially disastrous consequences seem to fall on deaf ears with the new administration. Agonizing the process all the more, is the fact that DAPL has desecrated land that belongs to the Standing Rock Reservation of the Lakota Sioux. The land is sovereign and the indigenous Lakota people are supposed to have control according to signed treaties, yet they do not. Trumps plan to terminate the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) would only serve one purpose, and that is to open up business opportunities for tycoons like Trump and other deep pocketed corporate interests.

President Trump's plan to criminalize abortion is a way to appease conservative Republicans who are anti-abortion. However it doesn't necessarily take a rocket scientist to examine Trump's jaded history with regard to sex to conclude that such matters would in all likelihood be totally trivial and meaningless to the newly elected US President. Trump's Vice President, Mike Pence, created a public health crisis in his home state of Indiana when he removed funding from Planned Parenthood, a group that not only has a role in helping women obtain abortions, but plays a major part in providing condoms to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. To read about the Vice President's extreme defunding blunder, just Google "Pence AIDS crisis Indiana". As it turns out, Pence's decision to deflate Planned Parenthood led to one of the biggest HIV and AIDS outbreaks in America.

As Huffington Post writer Erin Schumaker wrote in an October 2016 article titled, "Mike Pences Defining Moment As Governor? Enabling An HIV Outbreak", a timeline of Indiana's HIV outbreak, "the worst in state history, reads like a roadmap of what to do if you want to create a public health crisis," adding, "Its a shame, since lackluster public health efforts are what led to the defining moment of Pences one-term Indiana governorship: a massive HIV outbreak spurred by public health funding cuts and Pences moralistic stance against needle exchanges."

So rather than learn from an enormous critical error in judgement, Trump wants to remove funding from Planned Parenthood on a national level. Why are so many Americans angry and turning to violence? Gee, I wonder.
