Album comprising works of Iranian musicians of Ottoman courts released

TEHRAN, Aug.21 (MNA) – An album containing a selection of works attributed to Iranian musicians of the Ottoman courts in Istanbul, has been released in Tehran.
The album entitled “Ajamlar” has been recorded by the Mahoor Institute of Culture and Art. It comprises works of Hassan Jan, Shah Qoli, Changi Jafar and several other musicians, who were apparently taken to the Ottoman courts during the Safavid dynasty (1501-1722), Persian news agencies reported on Tuesday.

Arash Mohafez has selected the works, which were performed by an Iranian band that included Farid Kheradmand, Behnaz Behnamnia, Ehsan Abedi, Shiva Abedi, Asareh Shekarchi, Farshad Tavakkoli, Bahareh Fayyazi and Amir Sharifi.

The album also contains compositions by several non-Iranian musicians of the same time period.
