Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian unveiled plans to increase the generation of clean energy in order to redress the imbalance in the production and consumption of fossil fuels.
According to The Iran Project, Pezeshkian on Friday chaired a meeting about energy management solutions and air pollution control measures as the energy consumption has increased across the country in recent weeks amid the cold season.
The meeting at the Interior Ministry was attended by four ministers of energy, oil, industry and interior as well as the Tehran governor general, and relevant deputies.
President Pezeshkian was briefed on the latest status of energy production and supply, energy management solutions and measures to contain air pollution.
The president emphasized several issues including the necessity of energy conservation as well as ensuring supplies during the cold season, his official website reported.
He also urged the officials to make sure that both the production sector and households are supplied with the energy they need.
The president further stated that plans to produce clean energy are on the agenda in a bid to remove the existing imbalances.
Pezeshkian added that he will personally follow up on the plans, and called on the officials in charge to directly contact him when facing any problem.
Pezeshkian also urged all consumers across various sectors to adhere to maximum conservation strategies for sustainable energy supply.
Clean energy refers to energy sources and technologies that produce power with minimal environmental impact, particularly in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. Clean energy is often derived from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished and can be used without depleting the natural resources.
