An Iranian legislator has dismissed as a blame game the Egyptian interim governments allegation that Tehran has interfered in the Arab countrys internal affairs.The claim about the Islamic Republic of Irans meddling in Egypts domestic affairs is just to shift the blame [for the unrest in Egypt to others] and our country has had no role whatsoever in the recent developments in Egypt, said Seyyed Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini, the spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Majlis.
His comments come after two statements by Egypts interim government over the past week accusing Iran of meddling in the North African country.
The Islamic Republic has always supported the wave of Islamic Awakening across the Middle East and North Africa and it has stood by the nations, so that they can achieve their legitimate demands, Naqavi-Hosseini pointed out.
Egypt plunged into a fresh wave of unrest after General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the head of the Egyptian Army, declared on June 3 that Mohamed Morsi was no longer in office as president, and announced the suspension of the countrys constitution after days of massive anti-government protests across Egypt.
A day later, Chief Justice of Egypts Supreme Constitutional Court Adli Mansour, was sworn in as the interim president of the country. The Egyptian military said Morsi was being held preventively.
Since the ouster of Morsi, Egypt has been the scene of rival rallies and clashes between thousands of his supporters and opponents.
