IRNA – Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday emphasized that saving the people's lives should be a top priority in taking measures in the flood-hit western Iran.
The president who was speaking at the disaster management meeting in Tehran, called on governor of western Province of Lorestan to take all necessary measures for saving the lives of people in flood-hit areas.
He also said that two ministries of energy and roads should keep their efforts in the province, particularly rural areas.
Musa Khatami, the governor of Lorestan, briefed the president on the situation via video conference.
Heavy rains and flood had blocked roads to the town Ma'moolan in Poldokhtar District, according to him. The governor also noted that some 150 villages in the provinces had no water or electricity, and access to about 200 villages was impossible.
Unprecedented rains in various parts of Iran have caused flash floods.
