Envoy blasts BBC Persian for being more anti-Iran than BBC World Service

24 Nov 2018 - 23:03

MNA – The Iranian Ambassador to the UK Hamid Baedinejad has posted a BBC World Service’s report on the effects of US sanctions on Iranian economy, lashing out at the Persian version of the same report for broadcasting fake news on Iran.

While the UK-based Persian TV channels have focused their reporting on giving a negative image of Iranian economy under the US sanctions, the BBC World Service has reported from Tehran that the US sanctions are not going to have serious effects on the Iranian economy. The BBC World Service’s report, which is available here, called into question the reporting by UK-based TV channels, including the BBC Persian and Iran International, as it has interviewed several Iranian citizens in Tehran’s Grand Bazaar who shrugged their shoulders when they were asked if the newly imposed US sanctions were of too much concern for them. They mostly answered that they were used to sanctions and will survive them again.

The Iranian Ambassador to the UK Hamid Baedinejad has posted the link to the BBC World Service’s video, asking his followers to “just look at the difference between the news lines of the BBC Persian and the BBC World News.”
