TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (MNA) – The first session of joint trade committee of Iran and Thailand was held at the presence of Iranian and Thai industry ministers in Bangkok. The meeting was led by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammadreza Nematzadeh and the Thai Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand Apiradi Tantraporn.

During the meeting, the two sides held talks over cooperation in various fields like mutual investment, trading agricultural products, tourism, energy, steel, petrochemicals, precious stones as well as expansion of banking cooperation and preferential trade agreement.

Thailand remains as a supplier of foodstuff to Iran and the gateway to ASEAN countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, while Iran could also act as gateway for Thailand’s entry to Middle East market.

Last year, on the sidelines of the ninth meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Thailand, a total of six documents for cooperation were inked between the two countries aiming to increase the volume of Tehran-Bangkok trade turnover tenfold.

Iran’s Nematzadeh also made a visit to Toyota car assembly plant during his visit to the Thai capital.
