7 Aug 2016 - 23:05

Tehran, Aug 7, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi expressed the hope that fundamental changes would take place in the behaviors of the secretariat, secretary general and decisions of the UN Security Council concerning its member-states, including Iran.

'The Resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council speaks about fundamental changes in Iran-UN relations; we hope that his fundamental change will show itself in the behaviors of the UN secretariat and secretary general as well as the UN Security Council's decisions,' Araqchi said.

'We consider the relations between Iran and the UN as very important although these relations have seen ups and downs, especially in recent years and particularly with the UN Security Council,' he added.

Araqchi went on to say that when different resolutions are issues against Iran and Iran did not accept the resolutions and objected to them, but a new resolution was issues as a result of nuclear talks which annulled all previous resolutions and a new chapter in relations of Iran with the international community was opened.

He noted that the UN Security Council's resolution itself focuses on fundamental changes in relations between Iran and the UN Security Council, and said, 'We hope that this fundamental change will show itself in Iran-UN relation at a broader level.'

'We hope that in the UN Secretary General's reports this fundamental change will be manifested and in the behavior of the UN secretariat and UN Secretary General whom we respect in a moderate manner the Resolution 2231 which includes the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (ICPOA) this fundamental change will show itself,' Araqchi said.
