Tatarstan interested in trade with Iran

TEHRAN, May 08 (MNA) – A Chamber of Commerce official of Tatarstan, a republic of Russian Federation has voiced the republic’s interest in trade with Iran.


This official is the first deputy-head of the Chamber of Commerce of this European republic of the Russian Federation. The majority of the population and 8 other surrounding republics are reportedly Muslims and there is a general preference to food products processed according to Islamic teachings on halal food products.

Igor Nikolayev told reporters on Sunday that his fellow republic had been seeking strong trade and economic ties with Iran; “neighborhood with Russia provides Iran with an advantage of diversifying its trade partners from among a number of republics where Iranian goods and products are welcomed as coming from an Islamic country,” he added.

“Our capital Kazan will be a host of 2018 World Cup and will provide great opportunities to Iranian trade guilds to come and assess the profitability of this considerable market, especially for Iranian food industry moguls,” said Nikolayev, “a specialist exhibition will also be held in Kazan to exclusively display Iranian food products as the first step for Iran to find footholds in this part of Russia.”
